Proverbs 12:15
15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes,
but a wise man listens to advice.

  • Inappropriate Desire Will Cause You To Ignore Wise Counsel
    • Trying To Fill Our Deepest Voids With Wrong Values Is Futile
      • It is like trying to empty the ocean one drop at a time
      • It is like trying to number every grain of sand at the beach
      • Your effort will never equal your need
    • It’s amazing that you would trust your wife your life, but ignore her intuition

    • Ignoring wise counsel will land you in the wrong carriage.
    • The wrong carriage will lead you to the temptation conversation
  • The Boomerang Of Self-Belief
    • Every time we throw out the boomerang of self-belief returns to hit us in our pride filled heads.
    • Whether by fallacy or fate, if you find yourself staring into these eyes, there is but one response reasonable. It can summarized in one word – RUN!

      • Do not mix alcohol with compromising positions
      • Do not take the unnecessary meeting after hours

Romans 7:18-20
I realize that I don’t have what it takes. I can will it, but I can’t do it. I decide to do good, but I don’t really do it; I decide not to do bad, but then I do it anyway. My decisions, such as they are, don’t result in actions. Something has gone wrong deep within me and gets the better of me every time.

    • Our sin nature is wrong. Therefore, when we put ourselves in wrong situations and expect ourselves to do the right thing, we misunderstand our nature. The natural thing and easy thing is for us to do wrong in wrong situations.

    • Every time Paul tried, he failed, coming to a realization.
      • We can’t win in our flesh
