The Right Heart

The Right Heart

When you obey & God blesses, your reflexive response should be to grow His glory.

Malachi 3:6-10
6 “I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed. 7 Ever since the time of your ancestors you have turned away from my decrees and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you,” says the Lord Almighty.
“But you ask, ‘How are we to return?’
8 “Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me.
“But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’
“In tithes and offerings. 9 You are under a curse—your whole nation—because you are robbing me. 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.

  • The Wrong Heart
    • The Way Of Jacob – shortcuts and selfish motives
      • Competition Tempts Us To Consume Everything
      • Even what belongs to God (tithe)
      • Competing against fear – scarcity mindset
      • Competing to prove your greatness – arrogance
      • Competing for control – distrust
      • Competing to be popular – vanity
  • The Right Heart Returns
    • Obedience opens what God already wants to do

2 Samuel 7:1-2
1 After the king was settled in his palace and the Lord had given him rest from all his enemies around him, 2 he said to Nathan the prophet, “Here I am, living in a house of cedar, while the ark of God remains in a tent.”

  • The Right Heart Responds
    • We Need A Heart For His House
    • The Right Heart Has A Reflex To Grow God’s Glory
    • Why Does The Right Heart Respond
      • Because God found me – in the pasture
      • Because he saw something in me that my earthly father didn’t
      • Because he lifted me higher than I could have ever lifted myself – from the pasture to the palace
      • Because made me something I could never make myself – He cleaned me (white as snow) and crowned me
