David is trying to make it back but he had some human moments along the way.
I. One Of Those Days
1 Samuel 27:1
1 But David thought to himself, “One of these days I will be destroyed by the hand of Saul. The best thing I can do is to escape to the land of the Philistines. Then Saul will give up searching for me anywhere in Israel, and I will slip out of his hand.”
A. You’ve Been Told But Your Struggling To Believe It

II. First Act As King – Capture Jerusalem (city of peace)
2 Samuel 5:6
6 The king and his men marched to Jerusalem to attack the Jebusites, who lived there.
A. We Must Overcome What Is Currently Occupied
B. We Must Win The Ground So That God Can Work
C. David Was Winning The Ground God Was Going To Work With To Save Others
1. The place seemed impossible to capture
2. Occupied territory
D. David had to fight war to win peace
III. Second Act – Defeat The Philistines (Baal – Pu rais im)
2 Samuel 5:20
20 And David came to Baal-perazim, and David defeated them there. And he said, “The LORD has broken through my enemies before me like a breaking flood.” Therefore the name of that place is called Baal-perazim.
A. The Owner Of The Breakthrough (The Lord Of The Breakthrough)
B. Allow him to conquer Jerusalem, acknowledge him as the owner of the breakthrough, then you will have access to presence
IV. Third Act – Bring The Ark To Jerusalem
A. David Brought The Presence Of God To A Place It Had Never Been
B. The Presence Of God Was Entering A Place It Had Never Been
C. From Doubting To Dancing
2 Samuel 6:14
14 Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the LORD with all his might, 15 while he and all Israel were bringing up the ark of the LORD with shouts and the sound of trumpets.
D. Michal – David’s first wife didn’t get it and disdained David’s dancing and worship as embarrassing
2 Samuel 6:16
16 As the ark of the LORD was entering the City of David, Michal daughter of Saul watched from a window. And when she saw King David leaping and dancing before the LORD, she despised him in her heart.
1. You Don’t Get It Because You Haven’t Lived It
V. Easter Jesus
A. Has Captured Jerusalem At The Cross – peace is possible
B. Jesus Is The Owner Of The Breakthrough
C. Jesus Wants Bring God’s Presence Into Places It Has Never Been
D. The clock was not running down, it had run out. Human moments were happening everywhere. The disciples were doubting. Peter was denying. Mary was weeping. Humanity had no hope with this result.
E. All great comebacks require someone to do something that is above what is expected. Great comebacks by definition must defy the odds. Great comebacks leave an indelible mark in our minds because there is such a great contrast in the crescendo. The contrast between what we thought was going to happen and what actually happened
