Right Back Where We Started

Right Back Where We Started

Even in lock down we must not turn inward, rather look for ways to love and give.

Jonah 1:1-3
1 The LORD’s message came to Jonah son of Amittai, 2 “Go immediately to Nineveh..
3 Instead, Jonah

Jonah 3:1-3
1 The LORD’s message came to Jonah a second time, 2 “Go immediately to Nineveh, that large city, and proclaim to it the message that I tell you.” 3 So Jonah went immediately to Nineveh…

    • Do you ever feel like you are going in circles
    • Circles are cycles
    • De we want to repeat or repent?

Jonah 3:3-5
3 So Jonah went immediately to Nineveh, in keeping with the LORD’s message. Now Nineveh was an enormous city—it required three days to walk through it! 4 Jonah began to enter the city by going one day’s walk, announcing, “At the end of forty days, Nineveh will be overthrown!” 5 The people of Nineveh believed in God, and they declared a fast and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them.

  • If We Let The Message Move Us, Some Will Believe
    • The Some Are Worth The Walk
      • An agreement to care
      • An agreement to put away prejudice
      • An agreement to give grace a chance
    • The Some Are Worth Saying No To My Selfish Desires
      • Selfishness wears many masks
        • It could be retreating into isolation because you don’t care or because you have allowed your personal priorities to eclipse your godly purpose
        • It could be reluctance to learn, learning is a lifelong process. We need patterns to avoid repeating the cycle
          • If we are unwilling to learn, at some point, we are saying I’m not going to try.
        • It could a refusal to love others. You hold back. For whatever reason. I think one of Jesus’s greatest attributes is that he loved all equally. We have built GM on this principle.
          • Even in lock down we must not turn inward, rather look for ways to love and give
      • The Some Are Worth Complicating Our Schedules
    •  The Some Are Worth Sacrificing For
      • Ministry and Marriage are alike where we must come to the realization that I don’t have time for everything I want if I’m going to serve others.
      • So often, we resist what is good for others because it is inconvenient and not what I want
      • The some must be worth it
  • The messenger and the messed up are variables. But did you notice the message did not change. The last lesson cycle.
  • Peter had a 3 day cycle while in denial – Jesus – I am who I said I was. I can do what I said I could do.
