For The Sake Of WE

For The Sake Of WE

We have the freedom to choose, but God is asking for us to restrain ourselves from choices outside of perfect parameters. Ultimately, we must constantly decide between what the me wants versus what we needs

Matthew 6:24 (ESV)
24 “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.

I. The Model – Collectivism versus Individualism… AKA We Vs Me

II. Individualism Without Parameters Is Poison

III. Cause Above Comfort
Luke 21:1-4 (ESV)
1 Jesus looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the offering box,2 and he saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins. 3 And he said, “Truly, I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them. 4 For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”
IV. Cause Above Applause
John 3:30 (ESV)
30 He must increase, but I must decrease.”
V. The Cause Gives Clarity – “You Have To Lose To Win In Love”
Philippians 3:7-10 (ESV)
7 But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. 8 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— 10 that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death
