Awareness Is Everything

Awareness Is Everything

When everyone else had given up, He says there’s still time.

John 4:25-27
25 The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ). “When He comes, He will explain everything to us.” 26 “I am He,” Jesus told her, “the One speaking to you.” 27 Just then His disciples arrived, and they were amazed that He was talking with a woman. Yet no one said, “What do You want?” or “Why are You talking with her?”

  • Awareness Is Everything
    • They arrived at awesome but only experienced average because their awareness was limited
      • What are we missing that is right in front of us?
      • What is wrong with our vision?
      • Do people matter to me?
      • Is His passion my priority?
      • Is my experience with Jesus being poisoned by my perception?
    • Their vision for what could be happening was confined
    • “When you lack awareness you will be amazed for all the wrong reasons.”
      • Why is he talking to her?
      • God, What are you doing?
      • Why aren’t you doing?
      • When are you going to?
      • Well… I wouldn’t have done it that way (if I were God)… This presumption is rooted in the pride of believing we know better than God.

John 11:21,32,37,39-44
21 “Lord,” Martha said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died.
32 Now when Mary came to the place where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet and said to him, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.”
37 But some of them said, “This is the man who caused the blind man to see! Couldn’t he have done something to keep Lazarus from dying?”
39 Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of the deceased, replied, “Lord, by this time the body will have a bad smell, because he has been buried four days.” 40 Jesus responded, “Didn’t I tell you that if you believe, you would see the glory of God?” 41 So they took away the stone. Jesus looked upward and said, “Father, I thank you that you have listened to me. 42 I knew that you always listen to me, but I said this for the sake of the crowd standing around here, that they may believe that you sent me.” 43 When he had said this, he shouted in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” 44 The one who had died came out, his feet and hands tied up with strips of cloth, and a cloth wrapped around his face. Jesus said to them, “Unwrap him and let him go.”

  • “If only you had been here”
    • Tragedy and the agony are His specialty
    • There Is A Connection Between Believing And Seeing
      • The level you believe will determine the level you see
      • Stretch your belief and your situation won’t stink anymore
      • The odor of death can be transformed to the aroma of life with one word from God
      • How big is your belief?
      • “Unwrap him and let him go!”
      • At The Well, “Unwrap her and let her go!”

John 4:28-30
28 Then the woman left her water jar, went into town, and told the men, 29 “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did! Could this be the Messiah?” 30 They left the town and made their way to Him.

  • When We Shift Our Source Our Lives Will Change
    • She Left The (Container) Jar
    • She came empty, she left filled
    • She came looking, she left loved
    • She came broken, she left blessed
    • She had religion but did not have a relationship
      • Instead of giving her more religions, Jesus gave her redemption
      • Instead of giving her more guilt, Jesus gave her grace
      • Instead of giving her more shame, Jesus traded her beauty for ashes
    • She laid down the jar of clay… we are a new creation
      • She left what she was
      • She didn’t need what she used to need
      • She didn’t care about the things that used to consume her
      • Everything she had lost in love was found in Christ

2 Corinthians 4:7
7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us

  • There Is Still Time On The Clock

    • By God’s grace, there is still time to change hos this story ends
    • Everyone else may doubt you, but I am for you says the Lord
    • There is still time to do things they didn’t think you could do
    • There is still time to do things you didn’t think you could do
    • There is still time to become something different
    • There is still time to chart a new course for your marriage, your children, your finances
    • Hallelujah for time on the clock!
