Iowa Disaster Response

On August 10, Cedar Rapids, Iowa was hit with a derecho. A derecho is a widespread, long-lived, and fast-moving type of violent storm known for straight-line winds. During this storm, wind gusts reached as high as 112 miles per hour. Every person in Cedar Rapids and the surrounding communities have been affected by this in some way.

The extreme weather damaged homes, churches, and businesses. It also caused widespread power outages for more than 1 million people; threw vehicles into the air, destroyed farms, collapsed trees, and caused many people to lose their homes.

Genesis Metro is partnering with two local churches in Cedar Rapids to aid families in need. Veritas Church and New Covenant Bible Church are both working with Samaritan’s Purse and Eight Days of Hope to directly impact the families in this community. All funds donated to GM’s Help For Iowa campaign will be given to these two local churches.  If you would like to support this endeavor financially, please click the link above. Thank you for your generosity!
