Serving & Volunteering

Serving & Volunteering

There are many opportunities for everyone to get involved and serve throughout the week! Let us know how you would like to be connected at Genesis Metro by filling out this form. And please email with any questions.

Serving at The Welcome Center requires a smiling face and a welcoming spirit! You will provide information to members and guests, answer questions about the church and help people sign up for events.

GM Perks volunteers get to serve coffee and pastries to church families and visitors each Sunday morning! The ministry of GM Perks is to be all about people in a warm, welcoming way. We have the opportunity to make visitors feel welcome and comfortable, to help rushed families relax and have breakfast, and to have conversations with people looking for a friendly face to connect with on Sundays. The coffee bar can be the transition from the craziness of the world to walking into hearing God’s word from Pastor Tim. Our prayer is that every adult, teen, and child that visits the GM Perks coffee bar experiences the love of Christ lived out by all those behind the counter.

The Greeting Team is the perfect place to serve if you love people and want to help welcome members and guests as they arrive at church. Whether it’s their first time to GM or they’ve been attending for years, our Greeting Team is responsible for making every person feel that they belong at GM and we are happy to see them! These are the smiling faces are stationed at the front doors, back doors Worship Center doors.

Our Check-in Team are some of the first faces a family sees when they come to GM! They are ready to greet new families or current members who are checking in their children to our GMKids or Zone rooms!

GM KIDS (Babies – PreK)
GMKids is a fun, creative, and safe place where our nursery through Prek children come to learn about Jesus! Each week includes worship, a bible lesson, and a creative activity that reinforces our bottom line for the week! We truly love to partner with parents, and have several resources that help bring the bible lesson home and into your everyday life including a free Parent Cue app!

THE ZONE (Kindergarten – 5th Grade)
The Zone is designed to teach kids about Jesus on their level in a safe, fun environment. Each week Kindergarten–5th grade kids are taught the Bible in a creative, age-appropriate way while building relationships with adult volunteers and peers. It is our goal for every kid to realize that Jesus loves them and has an incredible plan for their lives.
Our highest priority is safety and consistency. All of our volunteers are background checked and must complete Ministry Safe training before stepping foot into our rooms. We also ask for our volunteers to serve at least every other week in order to form relationships with our kids.
Our Zoners are in separate rooms, K-2 and 3-5. There are opportunities to serve at 10, or 11:30am.

FUSE (6th – 12th Grade)
Fuse Student Ministry meets on Wednesday nights from 6:30 – 8:45pm. There are many roles available to serve at Fuse. All the teams work together to create a high energy, highly interactive evening customized specifically for teens. The teams serve each week to engage teens on their level through a student-led worship band, and customized messages that speak directly into their lives.

Set-Up Team – Volunteers will arrive early to set up indoor and outdoor activities for the students to enjoy as they arrive and before Worship starts.

Front of House – Volunteers will arrive by 6:20 to welcome and greet students as they arrive! If there is a first time guest, this team will help get them signed in, give them a gift and make sure they get connected to other students their age and Small Group Leaders for their age group.

Small Group Leaders – Small Group Leaders serve with the same group of kids each week. They develop a relationship with them week to week forming a family feel that gives them a safe, secure place to share and gain godly wisdom. The small group leaders attend the kids’ sports events, school performances, etc. They work to really invest in the students throughout the week. We believe the students of this generation love to be loved; this team works hard to show them that every chance they get!

Our friendly Ushers serve in the Worship Center in many capacities, including getting to meet and greet many people every Sunday! Ushers help with sanctuary operations, crowd control, observing for odd behaviors, seating members, assisting with occasional setup of church functions, all while listening to our amazing band & getting fed by Pastor Tim’s biblical message! It’s a great way to develop a community of friends. We have several schedule options available to meet your needs!

Our Parking Team provides all guests with a warm welcome at GM from the time they pull into the parking lot. This team has many roles, including setting up signs/cones to direct traffic around the church, greeting cars as they pull into the parking lot, directing vehicles to available parking spaces, making sure all vehicles are parked in legal, safe places, greeting 1st time guests and leading them to the Connections Team at the main entrance, driving electric golf carts to pick up/drop off people at the off-site parking lots, and watching out for the overall safety of everyone outside of the church building.
No heavy lifting or strenuous activity requirements. Big smiles and friendly waves are the only requirement! Cart drivers will need to be 18 or older.
This position is great for anyone who loves being outside, is looking for a good reason to wear shorts to church in the summertime, or just looks great in safety green!

Drawing people into the presence of God through powerful worship, our Worship Team is a group of talented singers & musicians who are dedicated to lifting our praise to the Lord. If you would like to audition to be a part of this team, connect with our Worship Pastor at

Our Media Team is comprised of individuals who have a passion for technical arts, creativity, and to see people experience God in new ways. Sound engineers, lighting techs, camera techs, and computer techs are needed each week to facilitate our worship experiences. We are looking for new volunteers that can serve on Sundays & Wednesdays. No experience is required. Come join us!
