Honduras Construction Trip
Men, you have all heard Tim speak about the life-change that occurred in Honduras last month, and many of you were able to experience it firsthand. As a church, we have talked about seeing a greater vision, and the sacrifice and readiness needed to answer the call. We have an opportunity to continue serving in Honduras as we begin the next phase of construction on Promise Home. Twelve men are needed on one of the two following trips:
- Week 1: Sunday, October 12 through Saturday, October 18 (Keep in mind that Women's Retreat is October 17-19) - Week 2; Monday, October 20 through Saturday, October 25
If you are interested in being a part of either of these trips send an email to missions@genesismetro.org confirming your availability. Don't hesitate to ask any questions.
Honduras 2008 Recap
Over the last two weeks, a team of nearly 50 men, women and students from Genesis Metro Church in Frisco, Texas traveled to Honduras for two mission trips. The participation level at Genesis Metro has increased to 50 from one person in 2006, and 13 men and women in 2007. Over a period of four days, this team ministered to over 1,300 kids in four villages through VBS and Sports Camps. Of that, 1,000 kids made first-time decisions for Christ! Another team continued construction on Promise Home, an orphanage which upon completion will house approximately 200 abandoned or abused children. While there, these children will receive proper nourishment, quality education, and life-skills to empower them to go out and make a positive impact in their communities. Most importantly, they will experience the love of Jesus Christ on a daily basis. Yet another team interacted with the local villages of Honduras to provide medical relief. They distributed medical supplies, performed dental work, and continued construction on Promise Home. Over four days, this team ministered to 1,022 people (300 made decisions), many of whom had waited for years to see a doctor.
Genesis Metro Church continues to place a significant amount of resources (time, people and finances) toward spreading the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ both in our community and in other nations. Through these mission trips, we have experienced the impact of our own people accepting the call of God on their life to commit to full-time mission work! But most importantly, we have witnessed those on our own team dedicating their life to Christ for the first time!
For the remainder of 2008 and in 2009, the mission strategy is to increase the frequency of trips to Honduras. We want the people of Genesis Metro Church to continue to experience the impact that they can have for Christ. Plans are in the works for a fall, 2008 trip, winter/spring 2009 trip, and an extended three week trip in the summer of 2009.
Honduras Trip 1 Update
There are not many words that I can use to describe what is going on in Honduras. I have never seen the things God is doing on this trip.
Sunday we went to a local church and they had the most passion filled worship time you could ever imagine. I believe our church has more passion then most, but it was no comparison. Several of us got up and spoke, and shared our testimonies during the service. At the end, our whole team came forward and their congregation laid hands on us and prayed for us. I did not understand a word that was said but I didn't have to.
We have spent the last three days visiting four different schools where we showed the children a love and hope they didn't know existed. Kids are accepting the gift of Christ and committing to life-change. Hundreds of kids, teachers, and even a local woman probably in her seventies have accepted Jesus Christ. We have also completed more work on the Promise Home land in two days then was expected in the entire week. The great thing is we are not done yet, and God is not done yet.
Lives are being changed everywhere. Every night back at the mission home, we close the day with worship and have a share time. The stories that are coming out are nothing short of miracles. We have had a student answer the call to live their life serving God in the mission field, and others are saying they want to bring this passion home and get serious about reaching out to the hearts of our area (community).
The whole group is experiencing God like they never have before and I know this experience will (continue to) be life-changing. - Jeremy Breaud
